Glendale Fire Department will be hanging out a 'Help Wanted' sign thanks to voters.
“The passage of this referendum is monumental for the Glendale Fire Department, For the first time ever, we actually will be able to increase the number of fire personnel that we have on duty here at the station,” Vice Chairman Bob Morris told WSPA.
The referendum allows District One to raise mileage on taxable property from Twenty Mills to Forty Mills.
Glendale currently has nine firefighters, three are on each shift. He says at times this has been a major issue because if only two firefighters show up to a scene they cannot enter the building. due to safety requirements.
He said increasing their staff to twelve will mean four firefighters are on each shift, and theywill be able to handle more situations on the east side of Spartanburg.
“With this, we’re going to get good firefighters. We’re going to be competitive and hopefully retain some of the best here in the county.”
