KENNER, La. --

Kenner police say they believe 74-year-old woman who owns a restaurant is responsible for setting fire to a rival restaurant just a block and a half away.

Mae Fong, owner of Fong's Chinese Restaurant, is charged with simple arson in connection with a fire at Young's Chinese Garden Restaurant on Williams Boulevard on Oct. 2, police said.

Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway said Fong was caught on surveillance cameras outside Young's just before the fire started. The blaze caused $50,000 to $60,000 worth of damage.

Caraway said the fire appeared to be a case of one business owner attacking another. The investigation will be turned over to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's office for prosecution.
