A Cleveland EMS paramedic was stabbed as he arrived at a scene on the city's West Side Saturday afternoon.
The EMS captain pulled into a gas station parking lot at Ridge Road and Memphis Avenue in his SUV around 3 p.m. when the stabbing occurred.
When he arrived at the scene of a two-car crash, a man believed to have been in the accident from ran to the EMS SUV, opened the door and began assaulting the captain, according to News5Cleveland.com.
After the man fled the scene, the EMS captain realized he had been stabbed in the thigh during the assault.
Law enforcement officers tracked the man down and as they apprehended them, he assaulted the officers.
The EMS captain was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and will stay in the hospital overnight for observation.
Police told Cleveland.com that the man is facing charges including felonious assault, felonious assault on police officers and violation of the state drug law.
