BLADENSBURG, Md. -- A Prince George's County fire truck was involved in a collision while responding to a possible fire Friday at the University of Maryland.

Prince George's County Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Mark Brady said the crash happened about 11:30 a.m.

Truck 809 was responding with emergency lights and siren sounding when it collided with a Jeep Liberty at Kenilworth Avenue and Decatur Street in Bladensburg, Md., Brady said.

Officials said the four occupants of the Jeep, three children and an adult female driver, were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Two of the five firefighters on-board the fire truck were also transported to an area hospital for a check-up.

Brady said the driver of the ladder truck will undergo post-crash alcohol/drug screening, which is standard operating procedure.

Each vehicle sustained considerable damage, Brady said.

Northbound Kenilworth Avenue is currently closed while Prince George's County Police conduct their investigation.
