The cause of a fire late Tuesday night in Harrington is under investigation by the State Fire Marshals Office.
A passing motorist called in the blaze, which occurred in a home in the 800 block of Bloomfield Road, shortly after 10 p.m.
Heavy smoke was coming from the home when firefighters from Houston Fire Company, assisted by companies from Milford, Harrington and Farmington, arrived.
A Harrington firefighter suffered minor burns and a shoulder injury after falling from the home's first floor into the basement, where investigators said the blaze started.
The firefighter was treated at Kent General Hospital.
The blaze was ruled under control at 11:10 p.m.
Officials estimated damage at $75,000.
