LOOMIS, Calif. --

An elderly couple was found dead early Friday after a house fire along King Road in Loomis.

Officials said the body of a man was found inside, and a woman's body was found outside a single-family home in the 7700 block of King Road.

The fire, which destroyed the home, started at 11 p.m. Thursday, fire officials said.

The couple's son-in-law, Mike Wilson, said he and his wife received a call from the couple late Thursday night, but they were not able to talk because someone hung up or because there was a bad connection.

Wilson said the victims are Anne Konrad, 73, and Frank Konrad, 83.

Anne Konrad was bedridden and would have needed help to escape the blaze, Wilson said.

It took five minutes for fire crews to respond, officials said, but the flames moved quickly.

Downed power lines and hot spots were reported near the scene.

Fire officials from Rocklin and South Placer outlets responded, as did Cal Fire.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
