Ex-Massachusetts Firefighter Allegedly Threatened to Kill Chief

The former firefighter is charged with stalking and threatening to kill the current Halifax fire chief.

WHITMAN, Mass.-- A former Halifax firefighter was stopped and arrested Thursday in Whitman, charged with stalking and threatening to kill the current Halifax fire chief, according to Whitman police.

Robert Mansfield, 43, of 27 Old Colony Way in Whitman, was pulled over by Whitman police while driving on Franklin Street in Whitman at 2:49 p.m. Thursday. He was arrested on warrants in connection with threats made against Halifax Fire Chief Lance Benjamino, and held for Halifax police.

He was charged with threatening to commit murder, intimidation of a witness, stalking and criminal harassment.

He was released on bail Thursday afternoon, and is scheduled to be arraigned in Plymouth District court on Friday.
