ALEXANDRIA, Ky. --

Firefighters rescued an injured worker Tuesday afternoon from inside a Campbell County water tower.

Firefighters retrieved Dennis Moll, 44, of Fairfield, a contractor who fell shortly after 10 a.m. while performing maintenance work inside a water tower on Woeste Road.

Police said Moll, who works for United Coating and Lining, didn't fall far when some scaffolding broke as he sandblasted the tank's interior to prepare it for painting, but he dislocated his knee when he landed.

Firefighters went up the center column of the tower to treat Moll and figure out a way to get him safely down to the ground.
