One Dead After Miami Apartment Fire

Firefighters were able to rescue two people from a second-story balcony and residents in the building were evacuated.

MIAMI --

One person died Wednesday morning in an apartment fire in South Miami.

Fire crews said the blaze happened in the 7400 block of Southwest 59 Court, north of Sunset Place. Flames and heavy smoke escaped from the building's windows as crews tried to calm the fire down.

Firefighters were able to rescue two people from a second-story balcony and residents in the building were evacuated.

There is still no cause on what started the fire.
