Two Missing in California Retirement Home Fire

VALLEJO, Calif. --

A fire at a Vallejo retirement home has caused the evacuation of 115 people.

The four-alarm blaze began around 3:45 a.m. at the Casa de Vallejo retirement home in the 1800 block of Sonoma Blvd.

Two people are missing. Their names have not yet been identified.

Three others were injured, one with critical respiratory problems. The other two suffered minor injuries.

Ninety people were taken to the First Baptist Church, which is nearby. Others went home with friends and family members.

The two people unaccounted for are thought to be residents of the top floors.

A penthouse and the sixth floor of the building were destroyed.

Crews were able to contain the fire by 7 a.m.

The historic building was once a hotel.
