Sacramento- the Sacramento Fire Department is pleased to announce our next Fire Chief. Deputy Chief Ray Jones will take over as the Fire Chief effective January 5, 2008. He will continue to work closely with current Fire Chief Forrest Adams.

Deputy Chief Ray Jones has been a member of the Sacramento Fire Department for over 21 years. He rose through the ranks on the suppression side of the organization. He is currently the Deputy Chief of Administrative Services which oversees Training, Fire Prevention, and Fire Communications.

He was the Assistant Chief in charge of our EMS Division. The EMS Division (Emergency Medical Service) operates our EMT and Paramedic programs. He also served the Fire Department as a Haz Mat Specialist.

City Manager Ray Kerridge recruited from within the Sacramento Fire Department because of the strong management team he had to draw from. Chief Ray Jones has demonstrated his continued support for the Sacramento community as well as his devotion to the Sacramento Fire Department and all of its members.

A formal "change of command ceremony" and celebration will take place in the near future.
