Firefighters had more than just flames to deal with while battling a two-alarm fire in Humble on Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Three fire departments battled the blaze at the Sportsman's Outlet on F.M. 1960 near Ramblewood Drive at about 7:30 p.m.
The fire spread into an ammunition building, sending bullets through the walls and into the parking lot.
"In a building like that, you obviously have a lot of ammunition," Humble Fire Department Assistant Chief Mike Lagoudes said. "You got gunpowder -- you got all kinds of thing that will very rapidly start a fire and support combustion."
Several vehicles in the parking lot were hit.
A police academy class was inside the range when the fire started. Everyone escaped without injury.
It took firefighters from Humble, Atascocita and Houston about an hour and a half to put the fire out.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
