Fire officials said the building was in the process of being demolished to create the new headquarters for real estate mogul Michael O'Neill's Preferred Properties, NBC 10 News reported. The building went up in flames shortly after demolition crews had finished for the day.

The nearby Tower Bridge was closed as the smoke was pushed to the southwest. Officials said the Tower Bridge buildings would be open for business on Tuesday.

Commuters were stranded when SEPTA shut down the R6 Norristown regional rail line because it ran right next to the fire scene. For five hours, trains were suspended while fire crews fought the flames. The line was later reopened.

There were no injuries reported to firefighters or anybody on the ground.

The massive fire was at the Vycal Plastics facility on Elm Street in Conshohocken. All that is left now is rubble.

The fire was also near the bridge that runs into Conshohocken and is used by drivers exiting the Blue Route and the Schuylkill Expressway. Traffic is being diverted from Fayette Street.
