A Northampton police officer patrolling near a home after a fire broke out rescued three people and a dog from the Bucks County home Monday morning with the help of two fellow officers.
Fire officials said a 52-year-old man, his 55-year-old wife and an 83-year-old woman suffered injuries in the fire on Buckhill Drive, but said the older woman was airlifted to Temple University Hospitals Burn Center with serious injuries after all three victims were initially taken to St. Marys Medical Center.
Investigators said two other officers suffered minor injuries during the rescue and were treated for smoke inhalation at an area hospital and released.
Fire officials said they were still trying to figure out what caused the blaze. The victims and rescuers names were not immediately released.
