ORLANDO, Fla. --

Part of a massive bottle packaging plant on Michigan Street was heavily damaged when a fire broke out Tuesday morning. Fire investigators said about 30 employees were inside CKS Packaging when the fire erupted.

The fire started at production line three of the 15 production lines that are inside the CKS facility. From there, the smoke and flames quickly spread throughout the building.

Approximately 30 employees were inside working at the time. They said they tried to use extinguishers to put out the blaze, but were unable. They called 911 requesting the fire department help them out.

CKS Packaging is a national manufacturer of plastic bottle and packages, so they had plenty of plastic, plenty of cardboard and plenty of fuel to produce a lot of smoke.

"So the plastics, when they burn, produce a very dark smoke. The visibility was very tough and the warehouse was very open, so the smoke spread very quickly," said Dist. Chief Dawn Sumter of the Orlando Fire Department.

The fire department employed the services of an airboat to help blow the smoke out of the building.

Employees waited outside the production facility not sure if they would return to work Tuesday.
