Some tenants who were forced out of a burning Watsonville apartment complex on Monday were allowed to return home briefly on Wednesday.
Some Pennbrook Apartments residents went in to retrieve whatever they could salvage from water- and smoke-damaged units.
The three-alarm fire caused $1 million in damage, fire officials reported.
First-floor residents were allowed in on Wednesday. Second-floor tenants will be allowed to visit today.
Fire investigators concluded Tuesday that grease buildup in a stove flue caused the blaze.
