Charlotte Firefighters Battle 2-Alarmer

Firefighters are on scene of a two-alarm fire at the Waterford Square Apartments in south Charlotte.

The complex is just off Carmel Road near Pineville Matthews Road.

The fire broke out Wednesday around 5:30 a.m.

A neighbor said she heard an explosion shortly before the fire broke out.

Fire Captain Rob Brisley says the fire is located at the leasing office and part of the office roof collapsed.

No injuries have been reported.

Carmel Road is temporarily shut down between Quail Hollow Road and Highway 51.
