FEDERAL WAY, Wash. --

A thief stole lifesaving equipment from a fire station in Federal Way, firefighters said.

Two sets of yellow Kevlar bunker coats, breathing masks and helmets were found missing from South King County Fire & Rescue's Station 61 when firefighters arrived on Thursday morning to take over for the crew that was on duty.

It costs about $1,800 to replace each set of gear.

Firefighters said they are concerned someone could use the equipment to get access to private or government property that otherwise would be inaccessible.
