HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio --
A fire erupted Tuesday afternoon in Harrison Township and 10 families out of the burning building.
The fire happened at the Northland Village Apartments on Palisades Drive around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators said the flames destroyed 10 units in the building. They said one firefighter suffered minor injuries battling the flames.
Fire officials said that 30 mph winds helped the flames spread throughout the building. They said people who live in the building noticed sparks from an air-conditioning unit prior to the fire starting.
Fire investigators said that the fire started from an extension cord being plugged into an air conditioner.
The American Red Cross is helping all 10 families with items that the need. Investigators said that all, but two families found a place to live with family and friends.
