Man Dies in Pennsylvania Fire

Two police officers tried to rescue the man but said the smoke was too heavy.

9:25 AM UPDATE: Channel 11s Amy Marcinkiewicz has learned that two officers are in a hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after trying to rescue the man from the burning home.

A local man is dead after a fire in Beaver County overnight.

Firefighters said Richard Ross, 37, was cooking at a home on Glenwood Avenue in Ambridge when he fell asleep.

Two police officers tried to rescue the man but said the smoke was too heavy.

Firefighters were able to rescue the victim, who died a short time later at the hospital.

Five members of his family are now homeless.
