April 1, 2007
The fire left two dozen people homeless.

A firefighter was injured after falling from a balcony during a three-alarm apartment fire in Irving, fire officials said.

The fire broke out at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday at the Burn Brae Apartments in the 4200 block of Northgate.

The firefighter fell from a third-floor balcony after the railing collapsed, and he landed on some AC units, officials said.

He was transported to a hospital where he is in great condition, Assistant Fire Chief Mike Evitts said.

The fire department estimated at least 24 people were displaced after 12 units were damaged.

Red Cross workers were on the scene assisting the displaced residents.
