New Hampshire Business Destroyed

One firefighter was hurt when he slipped on ice.

An early-morning fire destroyed a business in Jaffrey on Thursday.

Officials said flames broke out at the Heart Line Stove Shop on Route 137 just before 5 a.m. It took fire crews nearly two hours to get the three-alarm fire under control.

When crews first arrived, they encountered flames shooting through the center of the building, and the fire immediately went to a second alarm.

No one was inside at the time, officials said. One firefighter suffered minor injuries after slipping on ice. He was treated at the scene.

Officials said crews were hampered in their efforts by a lack of water, which had to be brought in with tankers.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
