Firefighters said it took them nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a two-alarm fire early Monday evening at a meat-packing facility in Northwest Miami.

Officials said the business of over 30 years was destroyed after it was engulfed in flames.

The fire started around 5:40 p.m. inside the La Coronela meat-packing business at off Northwest Seventh Avenue and 95th Street.

Initially, fire rescue officials said they thought they could contain the fire, but it quickly escalated into a two-alarm blaze, requiring the assistance of nearly two dozen firefighting units.

Firefighters said it took them nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control.

The business next door, Pinewood Plumbing Supply, received some smoke and water damage, fire rescue said.

The owner of Pinewood Plumbing Supply said his business has been opened since 1947.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials are looking into some of the ovens in the meat facility as a probable cause.

The owners of La Coronela said that they have insurance and plan to rebuild.
