Investigators said they believe a chair caught fire because of two electric heaters in the living room.

An 88-year-old Fort Worth woman was killed in a house fire early Saturday, NBC 5 reported.

Fire officials responded to the fire in the 5400 block of Como Drive at about 2 a.m.

Investigators said the fire started in the living room and then traveled back where the woman was asleep in her bedroom.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the woman dead at the foot of her bed, officials said. Investigators said they believe a chair caught fire because of two electric heaters in the living room.

There was dense smoke inside the house and severe damage to the flooring and the support beams when fire crews arrived, NBC 5 reported.

Fire investigators said there was no working smoke detector in the house.

The woman's death marked the third fire fatality in Forth Worth this year.
