Ohio Blaze Sends Firefighter to Hospital

A fire on Sunday afternoon in southern Summit County caused between $250,000 and $300,000 damage to a house and its contents.

A fire on Sunday afternoon in southern Summit County caused between $250,000 and $300,000 damage to a house and its contents.

The fire at 5896 Regay Drive in New Franklin was reported at 1:23 p.m., said New Franklin Fire Chief Perry L. Surgeon.

The first firefighters were greeted by flames that involved the first and second floor of the house, he said.

His department was assisted by firefighters from Clinton, Canal Fulton, Coventry Township, Green and Lawrence Township.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital for heat exhaustion.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
