The presence of the barrels put firefighters in a tight situation since they were hesitant to pour chemicals on the fire, fearing an adverse chemical reaction.
FAIRFIELD TWP. -- A second brush fire broke out near Cohanzick Country Club at 11 p.m. Wednesday night, only hours after the first one was extinguished.

While details of the second fire were not available, state police reported it is not under investigation.

Meanwhile, drums containing traces of an unknown chemical found at the scene of the first fire had no direct connection to the afternoon blaze, officials ruled.

The barrels, simply labeled "CHEMICAL", were also not part of the subsequent flare-up that occurred later Tuesday night.
