PLUM, Pa. (AP) -- A volunteer fire policewoman was charged with setting three small fires in her home this month.

Police said they haven't figured out why Andrea Veres, 34, a member of the Logans Ferry Volunteer Fire Department, set the fires on April 19, April 22, and Thursday.

Veres lives in the house with her husband, Andrew, who is also a volunteer firefighter but was not home when Thursday's fire was reported, and a friend, 27-year-old Sarah Zawojski.

Zawojski told police them she saw Veres set the first fire by setting a small cloth on fire under the dining room table. Veres then told police somebody set Thursday's fire by throwing burning materials through a window _ but police say that wasn't possible, based on the evidence they found.

Police are investigating whether there's link between the fires and an April 17 burglary report Veres filed, claiming she lost $3,400 dollars in jewelry.

Veres doesn't have a listed telephone. It wasn't immediately clear if she has an attorney.
