A man who was fatally shot on East Main Street over the weekend apparently was the random victim of a botched robbery attempt, police said.

Andrew Attinasi, 26, of Hastings Lane, Irondequoit, was shot in the chest about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on East Main Street, just east of the Inner Loop, said Rochester Police Lt. Mike Wood. Attinasi was with two women when two men approached, demanded money and shot Attinasi. The would-be thieves got nothing from the trio and the women were not injured, Wood said.
