Shanghai Plant Blast Leaves 18 Hurt

Eighteen workers have been injured in an explosion at a factory in Shanghai on Saturday afternoon, according to local police. At about 3:40 p.m. Saturday, local police received a report of a fire at a plant operated by the RiTeng Computer Accessory Co. Ltd. Local police, fire fighters and medical rescue workers rushed to the site.

Local police, fire fighters and medical rescue workers rushed to the site.

The 18 workers have been sent to hospital, most suffering from burns and skin injuries, and no deaths have yet been reported.

According to the initial investigation, the fire was ignited by aluminite powder, although the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
