Three New Hampshire firefighters owe their lives to a seasoned colleague.
While fighting a fire Tuesday night, they called a 'Mayday' after being trapped by flames on the second floor.
"An experienced, seasoned Franklin Fire Department officer found the firefighters a way out of where they were, getting them out of the Mayday situation," Franklin Fire Chief Kevin LaChapelle told a Union Leader reporter.
The chief called for an exterior attack once the firefighters were out of the house.
A second alarm was called to bring additional firefighters as conditions changed rapidly.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
