Nov. 13--A three-alarm fire broke out at a French Quarter hotel overnight, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, NOFD spokesman Louis Carrier said in a news release. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Shortly before midnight, firefighters responded to the blaze at the Olivier House Hotel at 822 Toulouse Street. There was a "heavy" blaze in the rear of the three-story hotel, Carrier said.
A second alarm was called at 12:11 a.m., and after fighting the "stubborn" blaze for more than 30 minutes, a third alarm was called at 12:39 a.m., Carrier said.
Several factors, including the location of the fire and the hotel's close proximity to other buildings, led to the need for more personnel at the scene, Carrier said.
"The age and stability of buildings in the French Quarter will always be a concern, as well as the number of people this hotel services," Carrier said in the news release.
Firefighters evacuated all guests and employees of the hotel, Carrier said. It was not immediately clear how many people were inside at the time of the fire.
The fire was deemed under control at 2:14 a.m. In all, 20 NOFD units and 63 fire operations personnel responded to the blaze.
New Orleans police, Louisiana State Police, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services and Entergy also assisted at the scene.
