A division chief has been chosen as the next chief for an Oregon fire district.
The board of directors for Clackamas Fire District #1—the second-largest fire district in the state—selected Nick Browne to head the agency, the district announced Friday. He begins as fire chief Saturday.
“I am humbled to have been selected as the next Fire Chief to lead our organization and provide the highest level of emergency service to our community. Clackamas Fire District #1 has incredible people, that work hard every day to meet the mission and it is an honor to serve with them,” Browne said in a statement.
Browne joined the fire district as a firefighter in 2008, eventually becoming division chief of operations. He previously had served as a career firefighter with the City of Lewiston Fire Department in Idaho and a volunteer firefighter with Asotin County Fire District #1 in Washington.
A formal transfer of command ceremony will be held in June, the district added.
