A fire chief and longtime firefighter in North Carolina near Greensboro passed away earlier this week from COVID-19 complications.

The Swepsonville Volunteer Fire Department announced in a Facebook post that Fire Chief Timothy Allbrittion passed away on Monday.

According to the post, Allbrittion began his career in 1981 with the Haw River Fire Department before joining the City of Burlington Fire Department in 1984. He also started volunteering in Swepsonville in 2001. After retiring from Burlington FD in 2015, he continued as a volunteer and took over as chief in 2017.

"Chief Allbrittion was a firefighters’ fire chief in the utmost of ways, always willing to help out and still riding the fire truck with the guys when he could," the Swepsonville FD said in the post.
