A Hillsborough County Fire Rescue firefighter died three months after contracting COVID-19.
Giovanni Ciancio, 55, contracted COVID while on-duty on July 16 and passed away Oct. 21.
Ciancio, a Driver/Engineer, was a member of the department for 19 years and was assigned to Fire Station 15.
He was an American citizen who immigrated to the United States from Italy in his 20s, according to a release from the fire department.
