NY Chief Dies after Collapsing at Fire Scene

Forestburgh Assistant Fire Chief William "Billy" Steinberg responded to a mutual aid fire in Thompson where he was stricken.

A Forestburgh Fire Company #1 assistant fire chief died after responding to a Saturday house fire.

William "Billy" Steinberg, 37, responded to a house fire in Thompson where he worked outside the fire building, according to recordonline.com.

Steinberg collapsed at the scene and was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill where he died, Mid Hudson News reported.  

The fire damaged a summer house on Rock Ridge Drive that was not occupied at the time of the fire.
