TX Firefighter Passes from Occupational Cancer

San Antonio Fire Lt. Shody Henshaw died after a long battle with occupational cancer.

The San Antonio Fire Department announced the passing of Lt. Shody Henshaw who died on Feb. 11, after a long battle with occupational cancer.

Henshaw was a 24-year member of the department,  assigned to the Training Division serving as a training officer.

He joined the ranks of the fire department in April of 1998. His colleagues said he had a presence and personality “larger than life,” and was a friend to all that knew him, KSAT 12 reported.

“Our SAFD family extends our most sincere condolences and sympathy to the Henshaw family, and hope they all know that they will forever be a part of our family... We ask that you keep the Henshaw family in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time,” the department said in a statement.
