An early morning fire at a medical supply business claimed the life of a State Fire and Recue officer in Thiruvananthapuram Tuesday.
A security guard spotted the fire around 2:30 a.m. and firefighters began attacked the fire inside the warehouse filled with chemicals.
Officials told IndiaToday.com that Ranjith, 32, a fire and rescue officer from Chacka fire brigade station died in the fire.
"A beam of the building suddenly fell on the firefighter, crushing him," a police officer told media. "He was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries."
Investigators are looking into the cause of the deadly blaze, and another medical supplies warehouse in Kollam the week before.
