Firefighters in Apollo are preparing to honor their assistant chief who died last week after responding to a number of calls.
On Nov. 20, Kiski Township Assistant Chief Stephen Michael Pavetti, 58, responded to incidents involving trees and wires down. His final alarm was at 8:03 p.m.
After cleaning the apparatus, he and the crew had dinner at the station. Pavetti was involved inn the fire service for 18 years.
He was found unresponsive at his home the next afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene of a cardiac event, the U.S. Fire Administration reported Tuesday.
Friends will be received on Friday,Nov. 29 from 4-7 at Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A firefighter's service will be held at 7.
The family also will welcome visitors from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service starts at 11.
