Three Killed in Medical Chopper Crash in Owen County, KY

The Air Evac Lifeteam was flying to pick up a patient when it crashed in Owen County.

Air Evac Lifeteam confirmed the death of three employees Monday after a medical helicopter crashed in Owen County Monday evening.

The crash was reported near Owen County High School just after 5:30 p.m., according to WLWT.com.

"Air Evac Lifeteam is heartbroken to share that three crew members from AEL base 133 perished in a helicopter accident in Owenton, Kentucky today," according to a statement released by the company.

The crew, from the Williamstown, KY, base, was flying to pick up a patient at an incident scene.

The company did not identify the members who were killed.

The NTSB was called to investigate the crash.
