LOS ANGELES, CA, APRIL 22, 2013 – Five people were injured, including a person who later died, at an early-morning, greater-alarm fire in an apartment building in North Hollywood. Three people were rescued by firefighters. Five of the 24 apartments were heavily damaged. Thirty residents were displaced by the fire, which took 25 minutes to control by 64 firefighters.

CHICAGO, IL, MAY 8, 2013 – Units responded to an early-morning, still and box alarm on the city’s Westside. The fire in a two-story, wood-frame dwelling spread to an adjacent three-story dwelling. Roof operations were discontinued and Tower Ladder 14 was placed into operation. The fire was under control in 30 minutes. Several residents were displaced.

BUFFALO, NY, MAY 31, 2013 – Firefighters of the 6th Battalion were called to battle an early-morning blaze in a fully involved, 2½-story frame dwelling. The fire then spread to an occupied, 2½-story frame dwelling. All of the occupants escaped. An additional two engines and a ladder company were requested. Firefighters used two tower ladders, a ladder pipe, a deck gun and multiple 2½-inch handlines. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

PATERSON, NJ, APRIL 30, 2013 – A three-alarm fire burned through several structures, leaving 13 people homeless. The early-morning fire caused extensive damage to two homes and minor damage to a third. Firefighters were forced to go to a defensive attack on the original fire building, but stayed offensive in the exposure buildings. The fire required mutual aid into the city to cover the empty firehouses. At the same time, out-of -town companies fought an all-hands fire in a transfer station.
