FORT WORTH, TX, DEC. 1, 2013 – Fort Worth firefighters responded to an apartment fire at the Hills Apartments on West Normandale in west Fort Worth at approximately 12:20 A.M. Upon arrival, Engine 23 and Quint 23 found one unit heavily involved with fire spreading to the second floor, the Fort Worth Fire Department reported.
Firefighters began an aggressive interior attack and contained the fire to four apartments. Two additional engines were called for manpower. A resident of the original fire apartment was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Four apartments were destroyed and four others sustained smoke and or water damage. The Red Cross was called to assist five displaced residents. The fire was under investigation and may have been accidental in nature, according to Battalion Chief Lance Schoeppey.
