LOS ANGELES, CA, OCT. 18, 2013 – A fire in a 25-story high-rise apartment building in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles sent eight people including three firefighters, to the hospital. Numerous residents of the 11th and 12th floors were unable to re-occupy their apartments after the fire. The late-morning fire started in a two-bedroom apartment. It took 214 firefighters to control the fire. More than 700 residents live in the building. Firefighters remained on the scene for several days to assist the residents. The fire department said the building was not equipped with fire sprinklers, which were not required when it was constructed in 1961.
