BERWYN, IL, JAN. 16, 2014 – Two Berwyn ladder pipes and an Oak Park tower ladder operate at an early-morning, two-alarm structure fire while it was snowing and the temperature was in the single digits. Arcing wires in the rear of the fire building made access difficult for firefighters. Units opened the walls in the exposures to prevent fire spread. Seven neighboring departments responded to the fire, which destroyed the original fire building.

GLENDORA, CA, JAN. 16, 2014 – Very dry and windy conditions sparked a destructive wildfire in steep terrain that took an extended time to extinguish. Fuel moistures were critically low. In three hours, the fire consumed 1,800 acres, a very fast rate of spread for that time of year. Numerous aircraft and helicopters were needed to control the fire. The area had not had a significant burn since the 1970s. Three men were arrested for starting a campfire that got out of control.
