A fire boat responded to help contain a fire at an Ohio recycling plant. Firefighters remained on the scene for four days to extinguish hot spots.
On July 13 at 12 p.m., the Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department was toned out for a commercial fire at MIE recycling on Route 7, just outside of Marietta. The fire started about 45 minutes before the fire department was notified and the employees attempted to put out the fire on their own.
Firefighters from Dunham, Barlow, Little Hocking, Oak Grove, Reno, Marietta and Belpre responded to the scene.
It took over five hours to gain control of the blaze and took four days to fully extinguish the fire.
Water supply was an issue and the Marietta Fire Department established water supply with their fire boat in the Ohio River. A water shuttle was also established.
One firefighter was sent to the hospital due to heat exhaustion from the hot and humid weather.
