Large Fallen Branch Injures Two Mansfield, RI, Firefighters
As brush fires burned across the Northeast Friday, two firefighters were injured when a large branch fell on them in Mansfield, RI.
The fire was reported in a wooded area near a building on Cabot Boulevard around 2 p.m.
Fire officials told CBS Boston that a dead branch fell about 35 feet down onto two firefighters who were working the fire scene.
"Both firefighters are in stable condition, and we are grateful for their resilience and commitment to ensuring the safety of our community," according to a statement from the Mansfield Fire Department said.
One firefighter was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center with facial injuries, and he was transferred to Boston Medical Center.
The second firefighter was treated for a shoulder injury and later released, the television station reports.
