VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL, JULY 7—Volusia County Fire Rescue (VCFR) responded to a hazmat call at a transfer station for the county’s solid waste division, because an individual illegally dumped various household and pool chemicals at the location. Containers of chemical and biological hazards received significate damage and spilled, and their contents mixed to create a toxic gas and chemical release. VCFR and mutual aid crews worked through disposed furniture and garbage to find all of the biological/chemical products, separate them and neutralize them.
