Baltimore City Crews Rescue Residents in 2-Alarm Fire

The blaze broke out in the rear of a house in East Baltimore's Patterson Park neighborhood late Monday, and flames quickly spread to three neighboring homes.

Two occupants were rescued by firefighters and taken to the hospital in serious condition after a two-alarm fire broke out in the unit block of North Rose Street late Monday night, the Baltimore City Fire Department tweeted early Tuesday morning.

The fire was seen raging at 10:40 p.m. and crews remained on the scene in the Patterson Park neighborhood in East Baltimore just north of the park after midnight. Fire was showing in the rear of a dwelling and quickly spread to three adjacent homes, the department tweeted.

The cause of the fire is uncertain, the department added.

The Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management in Baltimore City tweeted at 10:55 p.m. Monday to expect traffic delays on East Baltimore Street and East Fairmount Avenue between North Port Street and North Rose because of the fire.
