Firefighters battled a smoky blaze in a manufacturing facility off Route 206 in Hillsborough for two hours Monday afternoon.

The fire at the Reckitt & Benckiser manufacturing plant was reported at 1:37 p.m., and officers who were first to arrive on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the roof, police said. The company is also known as RB.

All employees were immediately evacuated and accounted for, company officials said in an email as the fire department was called to the scene. No employee injuries were reported, however two firefighters were treated for heat exposure, police said.

While the fire does not appear to be suspicious, detectives from the Hillsborough police and bureau of fire safety are investigating police said.

RB officials said they are also investigating.

Firefighters from eight surrounding Somerset County towns responded to battle the blaze, in addition to three first aid and rescue squads and the Somerset County Hazmat team.

RB officials extended their “deepest gratitude to the first responders who swiftly eliminated the fire,” company officials said in a statement.
