A tanker shuttle dumped water into two portable ponds as crews from multiple fire companies fought a blaze that damaged part of large home and destroyed an attached garage in Berks County.

A two-alarm fire destroyed the attached garage of a house in eastern Berks County, drawing fire companies from three counties.

Eastern Berks Fire Department was dispatched Wednesday at 10:16 p.m. for a report of a house fire on Crescent Lane off Lenape Road in Washington Township. A deputy chief immediately requested a second alarm and a tanker brigade to shuttle water to the site, fire officials said.

The second alarm drew additional crews from Berks, as far as Exeter Township and Mount Penn, as well as crews from Montgomery and Lehigh counties.

Crews contained the fire to the garage and the section of the large home adjoining it. Two vehicles were destroyed.

A tanker shuttle dumped water into two portable ponds set up on Lenape Road to supply an Eastern Berks engine. Firefighters stretched a 5-inch hose nearly 1,000 feet down the driveway to the home.

A tanker fill site was established at the Bechtelsville fire station.

No injuries were reported, and further details were not immediately available.

This fire was less than 24 hours after area fire crews returned to their homes following an exhausting day on Tuesday responding to incidents related to Tropical Storm Isaias.
