Firefighters put out a three-alarm fire early Thursday morning in downtown Sacramento, with heavy response temporarily closing some city streets.
The fire burned in the 1500 block of S Street, the Sacramento Fire Department said in tweets shortly after 4 a.m. In updates, the department said it had requested second-alarm and third-alarm responses.
Just before 7:30 a.m., fire officials tweeted the blaze was extinguished after about 80 firefighters responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
The fire started at a vacant building in that block, video posted by the fire department shows. Crews used power saws to cut their way into the boarded-up building.
The department at 5 a.m. said S Street was closed between 15th and 16th streets, with 15th Street also closed starting at S Street. Both have since reopened to traffic.
The incident remains under investigation. No suspected cause was immediately reported.
